Purple Moon Designs celebrated the Glasgow Care Foundation’s 150th anniversary at Glasgow City Chambers. The foundation, established in 1874, continues to support those in need in Glasgow. We reconnected with a lot of local businesses. You can donate here to support their cause.
We have always been passionate about supporting causes that make a real difference in our community. One of our long-term clients, the Glasgow Care Foundation, is a shining example of this commitment. Established in 1874, well before the NHS and the Welfare State, the foundation has tirelessly worked to alleviate poverty in Glasgow with the motto “A Helping Hand not a Hand Out.” This year, we were honoured to celebrate their 150th anniversary at a special dinner event held at the historic Glasgow City Chambers.
Dr Alistair Dorward, Chairman of the Glasgow Care Foundation, welcomed guests with a poignant reminder of the foundation’s origins and its enduring mission. He shared, “In 1874, a group of businessmen formed ‘The Association for Organising Charitable Relief and Repressing Mendicity’ – mendicity meaning begging. Sadly, there is still a need for our help today. While our roots are steeped in the Victorian era, the work we do is up to date. We supply items such as a cooker or washing machine so that their children are not going to school hungry and can have clean clothes.”
The evening was not only a celebration of the foundation’s incredible work but also a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with many of our business partners and friends. It was great to see Tom from Autus Consulting, our long-term collaborative partner and local agency owner. Alison McKay, one of the first business connections we made a decade ago who excels in voiceovers, presentations, and content creation, was also in attendance. We caught up with Armin from Dyco IT, who provides top-notch IT support and solutions across industries. And, of course, we were delighted to see Scott the Scottish magician, who always adds a touch of magic to any event.
As we reflect on the evening, we are reminded of the importance of supporting good causes and people who make things happen like the Glasgow Care Foundation, whose work continues to make a significant impact on the lives of many.
